Making the most of your Mart

When you go the mart, are you terrified to sneeze in case you buy something by mistake? Are you anxious about looking like a “newbie” and trying to pay in groats?

Diane Anderson is here to help you get the most from your mart. From a farming background, she’s worked full-time in Forfar Mart’s busy hub for over two years and has already acquired a wealth of knowledge. As well as being a first point of contact in the office, she’s out and about on sale days – when her days include booking in stock, checking paperwork and even weighing cattle. A keen photographer, her role at the mart extends to photographing the winners at shows held in the venue.

Off duty, she stewards at Angus Show and is on the show committee and can also be found driving tractors on local farms.

In her talk, Diane will cover aspects of pre-planning – including choosing the right sale and managing expectation – and advice on preparing your stock for the sale. She’ll also cover the process on the day – from arrival to uplift of stock.

With time for questions, it’s a rare opportunity to find out how the mart works and how it can work for you.
