The new Woodland Tannery
Peter Ananin is a traditional Tanner and craftsman who graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone with a first class honours degree in Design.
Formerly an intern in traditional sustainable skills in the Methow Valley, USA, he is continuing his work here in Scotland developing sustainable textiles and micro tanneries.
Peter is the Founder of Woodland Tannery, a social enterprise aiming to restore a small scale tanning industry in Scotland from an era when tanning was a highly sustainable practice.
Peter’s talk will focus on the re-establishment of a micro bark tannery for smallholders and estates, dealing with sheepskins and deer hides in an environmental context.
